Hey everyone:

Thanks for all the great notes. I showed my wife the thread and now she's worried all the accolades will elevate my ego to a level "impossible to live with" as she so aptly explained. Then she remembered how shallow the male ego actually is, reminded me of this fact, pop goes the ego. Just another day in the life of a not-so-famous author.

Yes, I still have The Whaler. Actually, my first date with my wife was on The Whaler, I proposed to my wife on the bow of The Whaler off of White's Landing (Catalina Island), my bachelor party was on The Whaler, we spent part of our wedding day on The Whaler and now my oldest son's (6 1/2) favorite thing to do is jump aboard "Sunshine" and head to Catalina Island - 26 miles across the sea.

Thanks again for the wonderful thoughts and for purchasing the book. It makes my day to learn people are enjoying the read.

John

I'm 1/2 way through the book and reading about how these guys are water skiing through the Erie canal. What an awesome read!

I finished the book last Sunday and can seriously say one thing, this is a MUST READ.

Today, which is four days after I finished reading Only in America, I still find myself daydreaming about the 3 J's summer adventure around the Eastern USA.

I have a powerpoint presentation I put together and spoke on Wednesday at the Newport Harbor Yacht Club. Had a lot of fun sold a bunch of books, there were over 100 people at the event. The biggest laugh seemed to come when I told them about Pat Carmody who was in photo that graces the cover of the book but ended up edtied (photoshoped) onto Liberty Island.

The story in the book about Pat being "Photoshoped" out of the picture was hilarous.

Do you think you could make your Power point presentation available to Whaler Central members?

I got the book last week. 100 pages to go and I'm slowing down. I don't want it to end.

Now every time I go into my garage and see my Montauk, I have to remind myself - this is all it was... a boat identical to this...
