Mike's Bio Page
The genesis of my Boston Whaler experience was the unfortunate sinking of a 16' Lund boat on
Lake Mille Lacs in North Central Minnesota. Mille Lacs is a huge, relatively shallow lake. When the
winds blow she can become a mighty dangerous place to be. The sinking resulted in the loss of a couple
fisherman's lives. Prominent in the stories and chatter about the incident was how ineffective the
Styrofoam flotation under the seats was.
As things would have it, my Dad owned the same model boat and fished that same lake religiously.
He had read about Boston Whalers over the years and in short order the Lund was sold and we had a brand
new Nauset in the back yard by the start of fishing season in 1974.
Well, that started what has become a more or less life long Boston Whaler interest. In 1992 he bought
a 1988 Outrage 20 W/D. He had that boat for the rest of his life. I sold the boat after his death and to this
day regret that decision.

My first Boston Whaler was a 1989 Outrage 22 Cuddy which I eventually sold to my son who eventually
sold it to Joe Kriz.

During this time frame I have also collected:
1974 Sourpuss that I sold
1964 Eastport
1964 13 footer
I now have a 1987 Guardian Divemaster 20. She is a retired fire rescue boat with twin 1986 Johnson 70's.
The boat is completely functional but is now partially disassembled on the way to rehabilitation.
Still in the FD colors.

Firing her up for our inaugural voyage.

Here is Meg at the helm.
