Thread subject: Whaler Central - Boston Whaler Boat Information and Photos :: Which Whaler is it?

I am more than confused. I am restoring a one owner, 16'7" Bostone Whaler. The HIN is 3A7963. The "Vessel Certificate of Ownership" states that it is a 1974 model. Here is where I am confused. It has the original Wood center console. Not the glass one. Can anyone help me identify which model I own?

Tks,
Wally

Take a look at the model specifications list (link on left sidebar).

Link

My guess is either an Eastport or Sakonnet

A little clarification. The inside color is the beige color not the blue. Sold in 1973, title says 1974 model. Wood center console. Any other ideas which model it is?

If this is not it, post a photo.

Wally,

The number you gave above is NOT the HIN number.
It is the Stencil number.
http://www.whalercentral.com/articles...icle_id=61

All boats after 1972 had an HIN metal tag located on the transom and/or in the bow locker.

According to your Stencil number, your boat year is after 1972 so you should have a metal tag unless it has been removed.

Joe,
I did find the correct number. It is BWCA66161173. The boat does have a red dot behind the Whaler decal. Have not seen this before. I guess it might me the commercial whaler? Anyway, the capacity plate states 1050 then under that it states 1650. Again, not sure what this means but most of them state 900.

Any ideas?
Thank you,
Wally

Wally,

It then appears to be made in November of 1973 as a 1974 model...

Look through the link Phil gave above and let us know what model you have.
Nauset, Eastport, etc....
