Here is Boston Whalers recommended battery installation from the beginning days of 1958 until about 1993. It shows the famous Boston Whaler desert tan color battery box, but no longer available, unfortunately.

In this recently done installation in a 1975 Outrage 19, the strap is the Kev-Lok unit Joe indicates. The strap is secured to the deck (in Whaler's indicated area where there is wood blocking under the glass - important!) by a pair of 1" SS "Footman's Loops", available at "Strapworks.com." Kev-Lok sells the straps directly over the web also. To avoid marring up the smooth gelcoat floor under the battery (dirt gets caught under it and works like sandpaper) I set the batt box on a section of "Dri-Decking". Works very well, and water can be flushed under it to get rid of dirt.

I would recommend "Dry-Deck" under fuel tanks also if Whaler mats are not available, and Moeller makes a tank hold down kit. But I think Kev-Lok also sells an excellent tank hold down strap, which would be preferred. You would probably need those Footman's Loops also for the fuel tank(s).
