Tom, The Etec's come from the factory set to the standard TCW3 setting and you can run most any outboard oil on that, though they do suggest using their XD-50 oil, which again makes a lot of sense. If you go up to the leaner XD-100 setting, you can
only use the XD-100 synthetic oil. But on the standard setting any oil can be used.
