I am looking to mount some cleates on my gunnel, and couldn't seem to put my hands on a wood locating diagram. Is there wood under the flat part (without nonskid) just forward of the teak. In other words, just to the side of the console. The grab rails did not originally come back that far, so I wasn't sure if they put any wood backing in this area. I've removed my grab rail, so I can come up one if I have to.

Look at the pictures on my personal page. You can see where my cleats are mounted.

I take it they aren't backed by any wood in that position, is that right? Are those factory mounted?

Factory mounted. There is wood below the fiberglass.

I just found the wood locating diagram in the downloads section. It doesn't show any wood along hte top of the gunnels, which I don't think is right. So does the wood run the entire length of the gunnels? Did they add wood in the position of TexasOutrage's cleats for later models? My 1981 model never had cleats on the gunnel.

Little Tunny,

You actually have a 1981 Outrage 24'... Later to be renamed the Outrage 25'.

If you look in the 1981 catalog on page 14, bottom left, I think you will see cleats.
At least they looks like cleats to me and a dock line attached on the port side.

The 1983 cuddy brochure has even better photos shown on a cuddy model.

Thanks, that's very interesting. I guess someone took the cleats off of mine at some point.

Incidentally, I sure would love to have an original hard copy of the 1981 catalog, if anyone can put their hands on one. And, I guess I have no excuse for not buying the electronic version you put together. When are those going on sale?

Little Tunny,

Those CD Catalog collections are always on sale.
Tom W Clark, one of our admin/moderators has them for sale. You can find his ad in the Sponsor section in the upper right sidebar or go here:
http://www.tomwclark.com/

I don't have a hard copy of the 1981 catalog either.
Attached below is what the front cover looks like for the 1981 catalog.
