That link takes you to the general page too, it's hard to get a direct link to the specific engine page... I use the BRP site, they have the specific exploded parts diagrams for the whole engine:

Does your shift rod run up to the linkage at the bottom front of the power head like the larger engines do? If so, this is what's hanging up your lower unit removal.
