I need to replace the brass drain plug tube on a 1987 Montauk as when removing the drain plug part of the drain plug tube broke apart. Would it best to go back with the brass drain tube or can pvc pipe be used, looking to prevent future corrosion if possible.
Thanks

Here are a couple of our articles:
Brass

PVC

Most people use the original Brass Tube replacement.

You could also glass in a fiberglass tube and eliminate all future water intrusion issues into the core. At the very least even if you chose either of the above. I would still overream the core and treat it with thickened epoxy prior to installing the new tube.
