I agree with Phil on the foam decking. If it was done properly, they used adhesive and it's almost impossible to go back to original non-skid. Some companies sell it as "peel-n-stick" which would be easier to remove, but those versions never stay down in the first place, hence the adhesive.

I put it down on a swim platform once on a much bigger boat -- with adhesive -- and it was great to keep us from slipping off of the swim platform. But sadly, once you go that route, you're more or less locked into foam decking forever. When it wears out, you remove and replace.
