Hello, I'm looking at an ad for a 1987 Outrage 22 hull for sale and it says that it has 3M vinyl wrap and EVA foam deck that was recently done. My question is, is this difficult to remove or expensive if I needed to hire someone to remove it? Would there be any damage to the deck?

Just curious before I consider purchasing as I would definitely want to remove this if I did and wondering how much it should factor into my decision to move forward, how much I offer or if I should just walk away.

Peeling off the wrap is not hard and can be a DIY.

The foam floor is attached with an adhesive so it will be labor intensive to remove. This is one of the reasons I personally hate it.

I would deduct 2-3K from the offered price.

Outrage 22's are hard to find so if the boat is in great shape or priced right for its condition. (Fair is ~12K, Fantastic 24k+)

That's a good point I didn't even think of what it could be covering up....I just emailed you a link to the ad which has photos of the boat. Also, correction the boat is a 1986 not 1987.

I agree with Phil on the foam decking. If it was done properly, they used adhesive and it's almost impossible to go back to original non-skid. Some companies sell it as "peel-n-stick" which would be easier to remove, but those versions never stay down in the first place, hence the adhesive.

I put it down on a swim platform once on a much bigger boat -- with adhesive -- and it was great to keep us from slipping off of the swim platform. But sadly, once you go that route, you're more or less locked into foam decking forever. When it wears out, you remove and replace.
