Evening everyone. Wanted to ask if anyone has the correct part numbers for the shift cable and throttle cable for a 1974 Montauk with a Johnson 70. The shift shifter control has “Morse Controls” “Hudson Ohio” on it

If anyone knows the correct part number and the correct length.

I ordered one, but it was not the correct one.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Bill

Good morning Mr. Kriz,

I saw the length of the cable is 18’. Can you recommend where I can get the correct cable the has the threaded end on the control side and plastic end with hole to fit a Johnson 70 on the other?

I didn’t see a part number in the post, only a length.

Thanks again,

Billy

Parts numbers keep changing these days and manufacture.
Used to be Teleflex, then Seastar and now Domestic.
Here is an example of the Steering cable that has the Quick Disconnect.
https://www.amazon.com/SeaStar-Soluti...&psc=1

Not exactly sure what you have but you can buy the QC adapter at the bottom of the page or buy an entire complete new NFB system.
Again, not sure what shape your system is in.
https://www.amazon.com/Dometic-SeaSta...&psc=1

Just a few examples and options.

Operating an OMC outboard with a Morse MT-2 or 3 control requires both a set of universal end control cables, (on both ends), and a special OMC adaptor kit for the engine end. Since the boat is 1974, I am assuming the engine is also.

Only buy the new Dometic XTREME cables, the smoothest made. Such as here:

https://www.dometic.com/en-us/outdoor...633-244852

for the engine end fittings, see here:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/390664539726...gIbS_D_BwE

You may be able to remove the end fittings from your old cables and install them on the new cable?

You may be able to shop around and find better pricing than indicated here. But I assure you, these are the items you need. if you engine is a different year, you can search out the correct end fittings

Thanks for your help.
The boat is a 1974. The engine serial number references a 1981 Year Johnson 70.

I sincerely appreciate your help. I will investigate and order.

Do you know if the correct length is 18’?

I’m trying to order the correct part so I can take apart and put back together the same day.

Thanks again
