Hello All,

I am in the process of repowering and showing a little love to my boat. I would like to be able to put a thru hull transducer. Was wondering if anyone knew the exact location of the putty box or if someone has a picture of what they have been successful with. I really appreciate the help. Don't have a lot of room on the transom as I repowered with dual 150's, and already have the active image transducer there.

The typical factory location for the putty box was amidships, forward of the fuel tank in most classic models when equipted.

This is a less than ideal location.

Many owners who have installed a thru hull transducer have fabricated a putty box in the aft bilge, slightly forward of the transom, aft of the fuel tank and slightly off center of the keel.

Great care should be made when cutting into the fiberglass skin and foam, building the putty box and sealing the hull and skin.

A professional fiberglass tech who knows Whaler construction should be hired rather than some "yard guy".
