I’m trying to have my 1998 Dauntless 13 trailered across the country by a family member. I have a good idea of the total weight but can anyone ballpark a tongue weight? I believe the hull weighs 650lbs, no motor on the boat and the trailer is a pretty standard single axle with runners.

Suggested tongue weight is 10-15% of total weight when level.

Trailer tongue should be level when towing so ensure tow vehicle has the proper drop or rise on the ball mount.

I use a bathroom scale to measure the tongue weight. You will know exactly what it is then. Slide the boat forward or aft by moving the trailer winch stand to adjust the weight. Sometimes moving an item in the boat will change the tongue weight.
