Greetings Everyone!
My 1989 Outrage 18ft bow navigation light sockets are rusted out and need replacing.

I see that Specialty Marine has a replacement LED socket and specific green & red LED bulbs:
stern light or dual outrage nav light led socket
SKU : SL-1SK

boston whaler classic stern light and outrage navigation lights single prong led bulb only
SKU : SL-1B

Can I simply swap out these sockets with my existing ones?
And do you think the new the new ones will seat into the black plastic mounts? Hoping to pick up tips from others experience.

Your photo looks like you already have Specialty replacement lights, probably installed by previous owner. The white stripe wires give it away.

Do the light covers have the "points" on them? If so, they are the Specialty versions, which are a copy of the original, early version of the WC lights. The original Whaler lights on your 1989 boat, a later design version by Wilcox-Crittenden, did not. The WC lights have not been available new for over 20 years. You can find photos of the originals on this site.

Hi Finnegan - thanks for your response.

I called Specialty Marine before your post. They confirmed it's an easy straight forward switch. So I ordered new LED sockets and green & red LED bulbs. They were not sure if the sockets would seat securely in the black plastic mounts. So I'll just add a bit of adhesive if needed.

I didn't see any "points" on the light covers.

These sockets were pretty rusty!

Older Light Covers: (1981-1982 ?)

Newer Light Covers:

Your 1989 would have had the newer style from the factory.

EDIT: I see from your personal page that you have the replacement Nav Lights from Specialty Marine as Finnegan mentioned.

Wow - you guys are sharp!

Yes - I do have the light overs with the "point". Earlier I was confused and looking at the plastic lens cover.

UPDATE: I received the Specialty Marine replacement LED sockets mentioned above.

The sockets DO NOT recess into the black plastic mount far enough to get everything back together.
