I asked my boat mechanic about installing a minn kota riptide bow trolling motor. He said it will be a challenge since the boat is all foam and asked me to check the forums how others did it.

I am quite sure the railings will have to go, bow light will be re-positioned. He mentioned that the starboard side cleats seems the better place to put it and will need to have a custom plate to attached the base of the trolling motor.

Anyone has done this project on this ole' reliable boat?

Thanks

I had a 1997 17' outrage with a aluminum plate custom made. It held a bow mounted trolling motor. I still have the plate and would be willing to sell if interested. I will send you a PM with my cell.

With the cleat recessed, would it be enough for the 2 holes or will I need to screw more? Thanks

Would it be a bow weight issue if I put the 2 group 27 batteries in the bow anchor compartment? Thanks

I would not think so. But I would not be opposed to running conduit to under gunnel area then to rear and back to console area. I will send you a picture of what I did on my 18 outrage.

Todd, I have a 2007 Montauk 190 with no power available at the front. I have already drilled a hole for my battery tender below the cleat above the anchor locker. I was misled by BW support. They had told me that I had a chase there but my navigation wiring runs with rub rail. Can you share a pic with me on what you did with yours? Any learnings will be appreciated.
