Thread subject: Whaler Central - Boston Whaler Boat Information and Photos :: In Need Of An OMC Outboard Wiring Harness Fabricator

Hello,
I'm relocating a console on an 1990 Rigid Raider 19' with twin 2001 70 horse power OMC outboards. Replacing all electronics and cabling, I'm looking for a fabricator to build the wiring harness and possibly an instrument panel with new gauges. Does anyone have a USA based custom boat wiring company to recommend?
Thank you,
Abe

The 2001 Johnson/Evinrude 70 hp outboard (two stroke) used the Modular Wiring System (MWS) control harness that is still manufactured in assorted lengths and is the same harness used in the Evinrude E-Tec outboard motors. You can buy MWS harnesses on Amazon for reasonable cost, e.g., a 20 foot cable costs $125.07. The MWS is plug and run design to new compatible gauges. You do not need a custom fabricator for new length engine harnesses.

Thanks Weatherly. I checked the MWS harnesses on Amazon and ultimately Leaders RPM, just pretty much proving I'm an electrical cretin. I've over complicated my console wiring 10 fold, still need to address trim/tilt wiring from the dated dual Binnacle control, added gauges, fuel flow meter, lighting, radar, etc,. Good lead though, everything could likely be pieced together for a fraction of fab cost, will keep perusing options. Appreciate the input.

Raider,
I strongly suggest looking at all the articles on this site or a bare minimum of the Site Map. http://www.whalercentral.com/infusion...te_map.php
While there, take a look at all the OMC/Bombardier Binnacles, Switch Assemblies and Gauges
You might see something else you might need.

Look at the second photo in this article under 1996 and Newer Outboard Motor Controls and where it says
"1995 & Older"

Abe if you decide to get something from Leaders RPM let me know as they are less than a half mile from my home and I can physically check something for you or take a specific picture of the part.

Hey thank you for the generous offer EJO, very kind of you.
Slid off my saddle for a bit to learn something about the wiring system, well worth the pause. Awfully grateful for your offer though.
Cheers!
