Recently purchased a 1983 Montauk 17'.

I will use the boat primarily for fishing but want to add seats in the back that are removable if I want to use the space to fish. I saw birsdall makes a foldable bench. I also saw so teek benches.

Are any of those an option? Are the reel benches removable?

Let me know.
Thank you

I always like to have a thwart board seat available to put into my boats, if I think I am going to need it for the day or weekend. Take a look at photographs I have posted on my website. There you will see what is essentially a friction-fitted 60 inch seat board that varies in width up to 15 inches. One of the seats has an Anderson manufactured cushion attached with snaps. Three of the seats are solid mahogany wood; the 4th is made of pressure-treated board, and used to stand on while casting. All of the boards are at least 5/4 inch thick and have a load capacity of more than 600 lbs, with no floor supports.
