Well, maybe they don't make as much maintaining them....

Keep feeding that engine clean fuel with the correct oil and run it as far as it will go, you have nothing to lose. Start saving for a re power, it will be needed at some point. If your hull is in good shape and dry, there's no reason not to upgrade the engine when appropriate.

We love the new engine on ours and yes, it was an investment. We also get a lot of compliments on our classic. I'm biased but I find the new versions to be pretty sterile looking. For what it's worth, I saw an in this months Soundings that a new version of the 170 Montauk with a 90 HP Mercury and a trailer lists for $30,700.00. I'm still way ahead money wise even after re powering...
