Hello all ...new here
I have a 2000 conquest 28 with twin optimax 225’s
It slow to plane out....due to weight I’m sure
I was wondering if anyone has used dolphin fins on twin outboards
And if it helped....motors are 2011 with 200 hours
I get 5700 rpms at top end and can get north of 40 mph.

Do you have the motors trimmed "in", as in full bow down? Also, trim tabs down can help considerably. Once on plane, trim the motors up until you get porpoising, then down a touch, for best efficiency.

Doel Fins work well on my single engine 17. It's rather tail heavy with a four stroke motor & a gas kicker motor back there...

You don't mention what props you are running. You may want to consider changing to 4 bladed ones.

If you feel that the boat is squatting at the stern when taking off, then fins might help. But fins are really a bandaid for a boat that isn't set up properly in the first place. I would be more inclined to install trim tabs, which will solve the problem and also help you out in other situations.

Also, you're not maxing out your WOT RPM so you can help by installing different props that get you right up to redline. You might want to get in touch with PowerTech props - they are very experienced with many boat and motor combos and you can describe your situation and get a recommendation (for free).

I had a similar problem and found that the prop vents were all open. Once I closed them it made a huge difference. You still have to play with the trim tabs quite a bit but the improvement was very noticeable.
