Check out the project page by Bottomfish & his 1983 Montauk renovation. His method of doing the rails and mounting them is brilliant. Yes will take some welding by a shop but the result is much more secure and no rattling of all the stations & stand-offs. No future corrosion either. I will adapt his solution in my Montauk renovation.
