I removed my original rub rail today to get ready for installation of the new one. There were over 90 rivets attaching the original one to the boat. Should I fill all these holes with a sealant or should I do a more permanent repair.

Your presentation was very helpful, nice job. I have all the holes filled and just waiting for the new rub rail to arrive. Do you have any advice on removing broken screws out of fiberglass. When I removed my bow rail 4 screws broke on several of the stanchion plates.

Drill them out and fill the holes with six-10 and then redrill and put new stainless screws in. The stanchion plate will hide the repair.
