Thread subject: Whaler Central - Boston Whaler Boat Information and Photos :: 1999 Dauntless 18 fuel tank issues

i am unable to add fuel to my 65 gal. tank, when trying to fill with gas the nozzle shuts off and gas comes out of the fill tube.
I have changed the vent to the tank. I replaced old vent that was part of the gas cap, to a separate vent out the side of the boat. Any thoughts or ideas on this problem would be much appreciated.

(changed title for clarification of model and issues)

I have the same boat and the same problem. i still have the original cap with vent. I find it best to get the tank half full or less, wrap a towel around the gas hose and reach in and wiggle the vent line (if you can) It is a flaw on this hull.

When it vents gas it means the air pocket is on the opposite end of the tank than the vent.

Change the attitude of the boat when refueling. If the bow is up when it shoots fuel, lower the bow and vice versa.
