New owner. New boat. Third or fourth hour of use, gauge reads "
"Emergency Non-critical. Service engine soon. STBD."
or something very close to this.

How should I address this? Keep boat idle for now?

You have not provided any details about your engine make/model.

Assuming you have a Mercury 150 Fourstroke, I would suggest you contact your Whaler or Mercury dealer.

Check your owners manuals.

If it does NOT have the engine error codes, go back to your dealer and have them write them down or print them out.

Regardless, your return to the dealer should be NO charge and covered under warranty.
