A compass was optional.
What do you consider the "original compass" was on this boat?

Any photos?

Both compasses in the 1984 Price List and Option catalog for a Montauk show:
1. Ritchie Navigator Deck mount = $260
2. Ritchie Explorer Deck mount = $60

No surface or recessed mounts are shown as an option for Montauk.
Please advise.

When I purchased the boat there was an opening on the console. The seller said that there was a compass there, but it broke and was removed. That is really all I know. From the appearance of the hole, I assumed that it was a recessed compass. I am just trying to find one close to "original" that I can install where the current cut out is. I truly do not know if the compass that he was referring to came on the boat in 1984 or if it was installed at a later date. Thanks for your help!!

(fixed typo in year)

Hard to say as any compass in the world could have been in there as it was NOT original from the factory.

Good Luck.

Mason -

Take a look at the extensive list of Richie compasses available and see if you can identify the one that fill fit the location you have.
