Thread subject: Whaler Central - Boston Whaler Boat Information and Photos :: Cohasset cover opinions (maybe pre smirk Montauk too)

My 1972 Cohasset II is back in Atlanta now. Thanks to everyone for the Roanoke mechanic advice but we ended up hauling her home pre-tune up.

Looking to order a cover for storing boat in the driveway. Prefer one that covers the outboard also. Ideally fits well but does not have to be trailerable. Not needing custom Mills fit. Carver might work. Don't want to do the old "tarp pulled over a pvc pipe running bow to stern" if possible.

No manufacturer lists this model as an option so would appreciate any personal experiences with fit on a Cohasset or pre-smirk Montauk. Maybe even Eastports/Nauset/Sakonnet?

Approximate "rounded up" quick measure of the Cohasset console-- for comparison to Montauk, etc

30" wide at top
43" tall
82" from bow to front of console

If these measurements are reasonably close to an early Montauk, then seems like the cover would fit. Thanks!

I would include Carver in your list.

They make a semi-fitted version for the Montauk without bow rails that would be very close.

Thanks Phil. I see a good sale price for a Carver through tomorrow at Bald Mike's. Do you know if the transom is open like a Mills or connects to an outboard cover? Might call Carver tomorrow. Would like to hear about any other off the shelf or semi-customs but for a 1972, pickins might be getting slim. Researching WC and CW I have seen some various brands mentioned 10 years ago that don't seem to have options today.

Most likely the standard cover will fit. I used a Cabelas Montauk cover (with rails) for several years on my Cohasset II and it fit like a glove. Unfortunately, it's no longer offered and I don't know the original manufacturer. I did need to use cover support bows fore and aft of the console to prevent water pooling.

Following up to confirm for any other Cohasset owners. I got the best price for a Carver cover model # 10367A for a "17 Montauk thru 2002 w/o bow rail" (linked above by Phil) from Bald Mikes. It is a high quality sunbrella cover direct shipped from Carver and the fit is great. Initially ordered without poles and after one rain discovered they were needed to prevent pooling in the bow. The cover has two reinforced snaps for tenting poles so I ordered two from Vivo Marine that have nice rectangular rectangular rubber feet. Real nice poles that stay put. Also cut up a large (4" or so) diameter pool noodle to wrap the stainless on top of the console.

Any photos you can add to your personal page? Or here?

EDIT:
Thanks Dave. That is one heck of a good looking original Cohasset.

Thanks!!! Correction to update....it is "Vico Marine" not vivo for the support poles.
