I am honored announce my return to the small but spunky group of owners who care for a often overlooked model, the Outrage 17. While overshadowed by the classic Montauk and the world famous Outrage 18, this model has the traits of both and some unique to herself.
As some of you know I owned a 1991 Outrage 17 for 7 years but sold it. Huge mistake, as any die hard whaler owner knows.
I gathered up my resolve to correct my poor judgement and acquired a 1992 Outrage 17 over New Years weekend. She was 450 miles away in VA but neither snow in WVA or cold or wind could stop me.
While I have great ideas for her, I am going to try to go slow and methodical and wring every ounce of joy in cleaning her up and providing some TLC.
My first task is to remove the console rail and see if I can get her to fit in the 2 car garage.

A big thank you to John (VA Whaler) and Dennis (Turpin) for their knowledge and assistance. You guys made the trip so much easier and less stressful.

Congratulatons! They are neat boats -- I almost went to Montreal to buy one before I found the Outrage 19 (in FL). So driving over here to VA sounds like a fun jaunt in my book!
Would love to see more photos -- only two showed up for me at the link above. Enjoy the refurb.

Phil I noticed a newer Highlander (regular or Hybrid?) is that what you use for towing and if so, are you satisfied?

I replaced my 1999 Toyota 4Runner LTD 4x4 with a 2nd gen (2013) Highlander SE AWD 2 years ago.
While I really liked the 4Runner, the Highlander is a
big improvement.
I towed my Outrage 17 up and down some decent mountains in W VA (5% grade for 4 miles). The Highlander had good torque and did really well.
The towing mileage averaged 15 mpg over a 480 mile trip of 1/2 mountains, 1/2 flat roads at 60 mph.
The backup camera is very helpful on hooking up.
I would expect the 2014-> Highlander to be good as well.
