Just bought this beautiful boat with a fairly new E-tec 90 on it. Going through everything, cleaning, polishing and now I want to rewire under the console. Where could I get a schematic for this year? The previous owner used wrong colored wires and I would like to make it right and tidy.

Hello George and welcome aboard WhalerCentral.

There aren't any schematics for the Classics as wiring the boat up was left up to the dealer or the owner depending on what equipment they installed.
Here is a generic wiring schematic:

There are basically 2 separate wiring systems on smaller boats.

1. Engine wiring harness.
(not much we can do about this except take care of it)

2. Accessories wiring including Navigation Lights
This is basically setup using a negative and positive ground from the battery running to a fuse/buss panel in the console.
From there, all your accessories are connected to that panel similar to this one.

Enjoy your new to you Montauk.

The ABYC would give you coloring codes as well as the gauge of wire+length of run+amps used. I have had great success with Blue Sea product line and used tinned wire with heat shrink fittings (I actually got rid of my automotive fittings and use marine grade heat shrink everywhere). Get a heavy duty crimper and in a pinch I use wind resistant log lighters for the shrinking. Good luck and welcome.
