What do you mean by "looks overloaded"? I like to keep fresh tires on all my trailers. I also cover them when I can to protect them from UV. Loosing a tread makes a mess, and is dangerous. Overloading, and age increases the likelihood.
A weight on a scale may surprise you compared to what you assume it weighs. Don't forget the weight of the trailer too.
