New member here, I thought I probably aught to join Whaler Central, as of today I'm on my second Boston Whaler. Yesterday I sold my pride and joy 1995 Dauntless 17DC in near mint condition. Today I bought a 1967 Currituck with a 1978 johnson seahorse 70 for $600. I am sure I will be around and might have some questions here and there.

These older whalers seem to have quite a following. I really hope these old whalers are as good as some of you guys make them out to be! I've got a little bit of work ahead of me on this one.

No, you made an unwise purchase. The old Whalers are just junk. But, the good news is that I'm going to take it off your hands and dispose of it absolutely for free. This is a one time special offer to generate good will so don't delay.

Our old 17 hulls are tricky.
Sure they pound in swells,
but they are acceptable at realistic speeds.
The huge plus for us is at anchor,
super stable with kids/dogs diving and low enough to climb over the side.
I helped a friend mount an outboard bracket on his sailboat,
we were both in the stern side,
holding up a 6 hp Johnson with no tipping issues.
Dashed any dreams of wanting a panga or other hull.

A great multi-use platform...
