I just bought a 1987 15 whaler and need a new front anchor storage hatch cover. Does anyone make a fiberglass replacement or should I just get a new mahogany one? Thanks.

There aren't any manufacturers who produce it.

I'm not sure it is mahogany, it could be teak.

Walt @ Blackduck is highly recommended for wood replacement parts. He does quality design and work.

Walt at Blackwood did mine in oak to match the previous owner's oak woodwork. Beautiful work!

I ordered a new mahogany one from specialty marine. They seemed to have some nice stuff.

The original is marine plywood. Mahogany will be nice. Is it going to be planks glued together?

Slap -

Since you are a recent member and new owner, it is worth noting that Boston Whaler is known for its high quality materials and manufacture.

When looking for a replacement part or accessory, owners have often commented on the high price of OEM-like replacements.

Specialty Marine is known for its inexpensive prices but it is also known for its quality level.

While it is your decision, we want you to make an informed and educated vendor selection.
