That is an error and the correct weight is 3000.
I can see where you might get that but I wouldn't bet on it.
Boston Whaler catalog weights:
1997 Outrage 21 = 2500 pounds
1998 Outrage 21 = 2500 pounds
1999 Outrage 21 = 2300 pounds
2000 Outrage 21 = 3000 pounds
However, if you look in the 2000 year catalog, ALL the Outrage models gained weight from the prior years models.
We would have to ask Boston Whaler what changed and why the extra weight for 2000 and beyond.
NOTE: in 2002, they inserted and corrected ALL the weights on the rear of catalog which appears to be the same weights in the 2000 and 2001 catalogs.
Here is the caption from the 2002 catalog only:
"NOTE: These weight specifications supersede those appearing on inside pages" (again, 2002 catalog only)
Would be interesting to see a 2002 catalog that possibly did not get the pasted on weight correction list.
Apparently they caught this mistake before shipping out the catalogs but didn't warrant reprinting the entire catalog run.
At any rate, I don't think Boston Whaler made a mistake on the 600hp for the Outrage 28' models as they list that in all the catalogs for that model that I can see.
