Is the 3/4"Plywood used in the 70's outrage doors faced with teak or mahogany? After 40 years of fading/weathering, it's kind of hard to tell. Some looks like teak, others mahogany. I have some old doors, but they are so old, they don't even smell like wood, just mold.

Walter - They are definitely teak marine plywood, at least on the exterior surface. The frame components are also solid teak. The only thing I can't definitely tell you from memory is whether it is one sided teak or two sided teak. My boat is 200 miles away at this time, so I can't immediately check for you.

From what I could tell, the only mahognay used in the classic Outrage 19 was for the cooler cleats, some minor concealed blocking and the inner part of the under gunwale shelving. All other wood and plywood was teak.

I think they have a secondary wood on the back, but what I want to check out is the thickness of the face veneer. The new plywoods have an amazingly thin veneer on them.

What you are going to get when you buy teak "marine" plywood, is a face of .6mm. I have to pay more than twice as much per sheet, and special order, to get 1.2mm. This is one reason my parts cost more than others-
