Did it porpoise like that with the Mercury also? The reason I ask is that Mercury's have a greater trim-in angle than the OMC engines, which should cancel the porpoising situation. The boat has less transom angle than later models, and combined with the old OMC engines, could not get enough "tuck-in" to elminate porpoising.

It could be that the prior owner of your boat participated in the red insert group purchase, since it was about 4 years ago. I doubt if the insert would look that good if original. I do remember some V-20 owners joining the deal.
