Hi Folks,
Came across this picture of a possible early model Revenge and wondering if anyone can confirm my thoughts. I apologize for the poor quality of the picture as I took the picture of a larger poster style pic.

It very well could be based on what is viewable. Then again, maybe not.

That is the first version of the Revenge, a 21' model made from 1973-1979, based on the Smoothside 21' Outrage hull of 1973 and later. It could be any of those years. They also made an identical looking 19' version.
Obviously the paint job is not original, as they were all done in Desert Tan, the first year that color was used.
We have a member here that has an all original, mint condition version of the boat, but no photos are available. The one shown on this site in the "Whaler Models" section does not appear to be in very good condition, and does not do the boat justice.

Yes, the boat in the picture is a Revenge 21 produced 1974-1979.

Joe - I just took a look at your Personal Page. That is one very nice V-20 Outrage, in beautiful condition. I love the red rubrail - did you participate in the group buy I organized a couple of years ago, as the red insert looks new?

Thanks Finn for the comments. Nope came like that when I bought it 3 years ago. I re powered last summer with an Etec 175 after I blew a cylinder on the 225 hp Merc, 1981. Whole family loves the V20,1978 other than for the porpoising !!! Hoping to move the batteries to the centre console this spring and hoping it might help

Did it porpoise like that with the Mercury also? The reason I ask is that Mercury's have a greater trim-in angle than the OMC engines, which should cancel the porpoising situation. The boat has less transom angle than later models, and combined with the old OMC engines, could not get enough "tuck-in" to elminate porpoising.
It could be that the prior owner of your boat participated in the red insert group purchase, since it was about 4 years ago. I doubt if the insert would look that good if original. I do remember some V-20 owners joining the deal.

It did porpoise with the older Merc other than 1 time when I forgot to put the drain plug in the forward locker and it filled with water😊. It does still porpoise with the Etec but not as bad. I'm hoping that by moving the batteries in the centre console might help.
Interesting comment regarding the rub rail as it does look much better in the pics. I have had the boat for about 3 years. Also I have replaced the bow locker cover temporarily until I can find a supplier.
