I recently acquired a 1995 Montauk 17 with an Evinrude 90 which I want to restore to like new condition. I will post pictures shortly. I will have lots of questions about the motor, jack plate and other situations. Right now I'm trying to plan what I want to do with it.
I have a 2003 Montauk 170 which is in SC. This boat will be on the Texas coast.
First question. The sprue hole in the anchor locker doesn't seem to serve any purpose. Any reason I can't just take off the cover and glass over it?
Thanks
Harvey

The sprue hole is left from the manufacturing process. It is where they inserted the foam gun and one of the locations where the excess foam escaped.

While you can re-glass the sprue hole it, why not reinstall the cover and caulk it. Keep it OEM.

Phil
Didn't think about that.
I'm going to try to keep it original.
I'll do that.
Thank you
Harvey
