It's a start. I plan to paint it in Jan/Feb 2013 and finish it for next spring

Looks good but there is a problem.

Your first photo is OK.
But the rest exceed the size limit of 640x480.

Please read the FAQ on personal pages.
http://www.whalercentral.com/faq.php?...p?cat_id=1

Please reduce the size to 640x480 max.

Thanks

why does everyone want to just right into painting without even trying to salvage the gelcoat?

What he said. Take a buffer to it first. Mine was dull and chalky. It cleaned up very nice.

Fred,

How did you determine this was a 1980 year model?
Your stencil number of 002131 puts it in the 1977/1978 year model.

Because this is most likely a 1977/1978 model, you should have an HIN plate on your boat which uses the "Model Year Format".

Let us know what you have so we can correct the year model.

That's what on the boat papers. Might have been stored prior 2 years the sale?

Joe... I do have something for you: 003121... that would maybe make it a 1980 in your book? I took the number wrong! Sorry.
I will try to take a pict of the plate, it's really faded but still you can read 1980 on it. It's really cold outside as soon as the weather change I will bring my camera.

Here, some news of the project...
The motor is in my garage... Evinrude Ficht Ram 115 - 2003 - 200 hrs - mostly ski nautic survey boat on the Loire (It's a big French river, so very light load).
I will post a pict of the paint scheme we decided... outrageous to say the least.

The restauration is going well. Pict ASAP.

Very nice custom work. You definitely have artistic flair. What happened to the Yamaha?

heavy, thirsty, tired... Gone!
I live on the Ocean coast and we have very few day a year where you could enjoy 200HP on a 1600lbs boat. 115 should be plenty and give me a fair range!

Updated my page... it's coming along just fine! She should hit the water soon! Can't wait, it's been such a long time since she was out of the blue.

Looks great. Is that an Epoxy paint?

I like the shine. I can't get that shine buffing and restoring my Gel coat.

Best regards,
Doug
