I am stripping my Nauset 16 down to the empty hull before I flip it for some hull repairs.
I am stuck on removing the steering wheel and sealed hydrolic mechanism,
How do I remove the wheel? is there another nut or can I remove the wheel as it is ?

The wheel is on a tapered shaft.
Wiggle it and pull it towards you.
You may need to soak the shaft with WD-40, PB Blaster, or similar product to remove it.
You have what appears to be mechanical steering and not hydraulic.
I have not seen that type so I have no idea how to remove the cable.

If all that doesn't work, keep the nut on loosely and tap it with a hammer while pulling the wheel. Make sure to keep the nut on or the wheel will hit you in the face. There are many threads on here to search regarding this as well if you need more description.

Thats probbly an old Morse control steering system, not made any more. Try taking the nut and bolt loose where the cable comes into the steering head, that bolt maybe a clamp holding the cable there. Use a block of wood and hammer to help remove the wheel, just tap gently till it breaks loose and yes it's on a tapered shaft and soaking it will help. Might think about up-dating the steering system.

I used a 3 prong steering wheel puller to remove the steering wheel on my supersport when I converted to a cc. There is a little Allen nut in the casing you must also remove. I soaked the wheel with wd 40 and it came right out. I got the puller from harbor freight for a few bucks. Some auto parts store rent them, but I could not find the 3 prong at any of them. Thanks

It helps to have two people. One pulling on the steering wheel while one hitting the nut with the hammer.

this question seems to come up quite often. If you have ever taken one off it's hard to explain. I would recommend using anti-seize compound of some kind for the reassembly. Here's a basic picture of the tapered shaft. Maybe Joe will put this in an appropriate spot. So it can be found on the board.

I greased mine and it was hard to get off after only a few weeks.
