What Joe is trying to say is sell the side mount control and buy a binnacle mount it just looks and fits so much better. I tried what you are talking about which is mounting the side mount in to the console like a binnacle mount. If you are anything like me you will not be happy with the result. In my humble opinion it would be better to spend a couple of extra bucks to get the proper controls for your console. I see you are in California, if you live near the bay area I would be glad to offer some help. I am in Alameda, drop me a line.
