I am going to repower Maripà due http://www.whalercentral.com/infusion..._page=view with a new Evinrude E-TEC 150HP DPX.
Maripà 2 is an Outrage 18' and she runs an old Johnson 175HP V6 with a PRO HI-JACKER High Performance 1/2" Jack Plate - 8", a Hot Shot™ Jack Plate Hole Shot Plate, and a pair of Nauticus ST1290-80 Smart Tab Trim Tabs.
Propellers are both a 19P and a 21P propeller depending on sea or lake use.
Has someone any experience of Evinrude E-TEC 150HP on a Outrage 18’? What prop?
Ciao

Several members (Kamie, Rom, Whalerman et al.) have re-powered with a ETEC- 150,.

If you search for the exact words "ETEC 150 prop" in the search engine, Search Link you will get some great threads.

What prop do you have on your current outboard. Do you like how the boat handles? I would start there so you can get the basics on the new outboard like RPM at WOT and your speed.
What do you want to prop for, speed, handling?

I run a Vensura 19p on my E-Tec.

I would start with the 19P you already have and see what WOT RPM the E-TEC 150 can achieve on your boat with your normal loaded weight (people, fuel, gear). It would be useful to know what propeller that is as it would become a reference for making recommendations for other possible propellers.

Hi, +1 as stated start with the 19" pitch and see. I run the viper 17" no jack plate or set back and 1 5/8", A V plate, above the keel and see 56 to 5700 rpm with 2 POB and 1/2 tank fuel. Love my e-tec 150!!!!

Hi,
thank you for replying to my question.
At the moment I run:
a 19P x 14 1/4 when at sea full load, ski, etc.;
a 21P x 14 1/4 when sailing on a river reduced load.

Vensura on a ETEC? isn't a Mercury prop?
ETEC in Europe is offered with a Viper prop as standard.

Shall I go for a Viper 19P or ask for a different OEM prop at a cost?

Viper 17 is perfect.

As our esteemed propeller expert, Tom Clark has stated, many brands of propellers may fit an engine. Some will have the same insert (hub) while others need an adapter.

Keep in mind the same size propeller of one brand may not perform the same as another brand with the same size due to the blade shape. (i.e. A 14.25x17 BPR prop will not necessarily perform the same as a Mercury 14.25x17).

trionfale,
What brand, model are the two props you have now. Lightly loaded what is your RPM's at WOT and your top speed? I would see if the shop would let you try pops until you get one that you like. The Viper may be perfect for firstoffshore and how he boats, but it may not work for you.
