Greetings,

I am looking for an original BW swim platform with ladder for a 17 Montauk, as pictured. This is for my father's boat, which I believe is an 80s or 90s model year. I have seen the Martine Marine equivalent, which I understand is a fine bit of hardware. But he would prefer to get the BW part if at all possible. Not having much luck searching the web or this site. Any tips/leads greatly appreciated.

If the pic attached doesn't post, it can also be seen here:

thanks,
ew

Ew - Please tell your Dad there wasn't a "standard" swim platform.

Prior to 2002 the factory did not offer significant accessories nor engines on the boat. The selling dealer alllowed the customer to select the engine, gauges and accessories. The dealer did the install.

Post 2002 the factory installed all engines (Mercury) and offered limited accessories.

My 1987 Montauk 17 had a swim platform. It looked like the photo below on the left. The photo on the right is the Martin Marine product.

Ray Martin's is superior in construction, attaches above the water line and has a longer step.

Phil T,

Thanks for the information. While my dad's boat did not come with a platform and ladder, would it not still be possible to retrofit a BW platform/ladder that may have been installed with later Montauk 17s? I doubt it is important to him that it was not original to the boat, but more that he would prefer to have a BW part attached to the boat. I believe he prefers the look of the one in the link I had sent rather than the Martin Marine one even if it does look just like the one that actually came with your 1987 Montauk.

On another note, I am not sure why my image will not upload. It's 92kb in size so well below the 200kb limit.

Since the pic is not uploading, below again is the link to where the platform/ladder can be seen. Scroll down the page a little to view.

If anyone knows where this platform/ladder as pictured can be obtained, please let me know.

thanks,
ew

(changed to full 4 digit year per guideline #1 at the top of this page)

You might be able to find that via a dealer.

I would contact either Sue Lodel, Parts Manager Extrodinare at Twin Cities Marine or Justin at Nauset Marine.

The platform is not made by Boston Whaler rather another company.
