Hi, New to whaler ownership and boating in general. We have an older Montauk from the 1980s. Want to add a bow rail and saw that the new 2018 models come with a split one. Does anybody know whether the hull/bow shape had changed since then. I would like to order a split rail system and install it on the old hull. Possible? Are there other aftermarket options?

We are located in the pacific northwest.

[edit to correct model name in subject]

The current Boston Whaler Montauk 170 is a completely different hull and has a completely different beam and bow layout. The rail layout is not remotely similar to a Montauk 17.

I suggest you contacting a rail fabricator. They can produce a bow rail to suit your needs and visual esthetic.

To locate a fabricator, one could start by contacting your local whaler dealer for a recommendation.

Thank you. I was afraid of that. Will explore other options.
