I serviced the seals on my Hydraulic steering (Sea Star HC5342) while the boat was in the water. Needless to say the starboard side mounting bracket nut and washer fell in the drink. Can anyone help me identify the specs of that nut and washer so I can try pick these up at my local Ace hardware? The manual from SeaStar shows this nut and washer to be standard on a bunch of models. The nut is part number 192126 1/2" NF Nylok and the washer is part number 202027 Washer 1/2" diamater. Muy questions is what size/thread is the nut?

Hydraulic steering components tend to use fine thread fasteners, so I would assume the nut size is 1/2" -20. This source is excellent for all types of SS fasteners. They have, and show everything anyone would ever need, with excellent pricing. You may see something that looks like the nut you need here:

If you need a smaller outside diameter washer, look at metric M-12's. These should also be used as a washer size against the engine bracket (under bolt head or nut) when installing outboards.
Also, every boat owner should read this information on SS bolt/nut galling. This is why ALL outboards should be installed with 1/2" bolts using BRASS locknuts. Mercury has been furnishing this combination of bolts/nuts for mounting engines for 50 years. Maybe many of you have noticed Boston Whaler even used brass lock nuts on all SS fasteners until 1980 for same reason.
