Thread subject: Whaler Central - Boston Whaler Boat Information and Photos :: Super Sport Gas Tanks

I recently picked up a Super Sport 160 with 90hp mercury. This one came setup with twin 6 gallon tanks. Keeping track of the gas and switching between tanks is a pain since we use the boat as a commuter to an island. My daughter ran one dry the other day and had a heck of a time restarting the engine. The Super Sport has an optional 19 gallon single tank that looks pretty nice. It's a $500 option and the cheapest I've seen it for sale separately at Whaler dealers is $1200 which is about 3x what similar tanks cost (that don't quite fit). Does anyone know the source for that tank? As an alternative is it possible to plumb the current tanks to draw from both at once?

Take measurements and start looking for a tank that will fit. You can plumb the two tanks but a single would be a better option if you do not need to remove the tank to fill it.

What year of Super Sport? Presume 2019 or 2020?

Provide the available dimensions. Will poke around.

I bought a 2019 Super Sport 160. The space under the seat is 32w x 11high x 15 deep (this could be larger and stick out of the seat a little). I can't find any tank close to those dimensions. Most are too wide. I'm amazed how much space there is in this boat in general.

What does it cost from the dealer?

Ballison-

Are you saying the dealer is charging $1000 for the same tank? Include install and gold plated gas line?

Ouch.

Personally I would call Sue Lodel, Parts Manager and Parts GOD to all whaler owners at Twin Cities Marine and ask her to price the OEM tank option alone.

Single 12 gallon that is reasonably priced @99.00

Here is an idea:

Any chance you can move battery to under console to make room to install 2 12 gallon tanks? Is there room? If not...

Would this fit if you removed the seat stiffner (add stiffner underneath seat)

Phil neither of those tanks will fit the dimensions he stated above #4. Sue is a good idea.

The single 12 gallon would but is too small, hence my alternate idea.

I've been looking for the same tank for the 15 Super Sport, hate the twin 6 gallon tanks..
