i have decided to replace the steering system. the original has a tilt steering system and i would like not to loose that. what system is recommended and what length of steering cable should i order.

I replaced my mechanical system with a Baystar Hydraulic on my 17' custom.

Just replace the cable. Pretty sure the helm (behind wheel) is fine.

The issue you are having in this thread http://www.whalercentral.com/forum/vi...ost_162755 is due to lack of annual lubrication of the steering cable.

Remember to add a steersman nut to the port side of the tilt tube.

i put the steersman nut on. But still need to replace the cable as a minimum. What cable length?

Cable length will be on the cable itself. Sometimes in inches.
