1988 Newport, 1988 Eveinrude fitch , 90 hp, 2000 Honda 9:9 kicker,

Do you put plug on the inside, or in the Sturn on the outside???????

Boat has a 10” or so drain tube, looks like to me if you install the plug on the in side, and you have any kind of a leak at all in the tube , it’s going to soak the transom 10” or so. Just my dime

All drain plugs are put in from the inside.

Hard to remove underway if they are put in from the outside.

Make sure to inspect your drain tubes. PS...they did not make a FICT in 1988....1998? Don't think they ever made a FITCH.

FICHT technology was not even invented in 1988. The first year FICHT was a Johnson in 1997. The 90hp came later under Evinrude.
