Just purchased a used Montauk 210. Boats in great shape however the horn does not work and I would like to fix it...Can anyone provide the type of horn or how to go about replacing this?

Also looking to add a knob on the steering wheel. Any recommendations on knobs? Is there a certain type I need to buy to fit my steering wheel?

Thanks for any help!

Horns, a short story (tough for me). I had a Coast Guard inspector do a safety walk through on one of my boats. He heard my horn and then handed me a hand held blow into horn. His comment "......your horn will probably stop working.....".

Check the fuse, it is listed in your manual.

If you don't have a manual, order one from your dealer.

Aside - Garris - The handheld are very important in the fog. Saved my bacon more than once.

For a steering knob, I discourage onwners for buying an Edison or similar that cost upwards of $80.00. Ridiculous.

I prefer the offset type, installed with the spinner on the inside of the wheel to protect your...thigh.

I had this on my last 2 boats.

The official Outrage "spinner knob" steering wheel that Whaler has been using for some time is the "Vision FX" by Schmitt. It is extremely high quality and, as Phil indicates, is correctly done with the knob inset off the steering wheel rim. I have been using one on my Outrage 25 and it is excellent. Not cheap, but well worth the money. 15-1/2" diameter is required, along with a separately purchased center nut depending on whether you have mechanical or hydraulic steering (different thread size). Whaler sells a nut with their logo on it if desired.

Suicide knobs are great until you hit a piling and it whacks you in the chest.

Aside from that I found mine extremely annoying as my shirt would blow in the wind and always get caught on the knob.
