Would it be possible to use pex tubing to replace a Montauk drain tube? It's ductile and less brittle than PVC, but shares a long-term weakness to UV (which seems like a non-issue for something buried in the transom).

I have a sense that the answer is/will be no, given the weight of opinion about PVC, but I don't see any mention of it in prior posts, so thought I'd ask.

I wouldn't.

Do you need help with drain replacement? Maybe York Harbor Marine in York, Maine can get them done for you.

I see you are reaching for alternative methods for the drain tube. Play with the alloy original. I rejected (trashed) several of the early tries until I got it down. It's the fun part a tinkering with a boat. I did find that following advice and recommendations from members here very helpful and rewarding.
