One of the brackets behind the mahogany backrest has cracked on my railing. It is one of the brackets that connects the seat railing to the wrap around cockpit railing. I had previously bought a replacement bracket but wasn't sure if I can get it on the railing? I'm a little nervous about taking apart the railing after 47 years. I know I can't get the bracket to make the turn in the rail, does the rail come apart in the middle behind the seat? I have found one replacement part online, link below, but can't tell if I can replace just the bracket or will need a new railing. Has anyone else tried to replace a bracket behind the backrest?

Take a photo of the broken one on the boat and post so we can clearly see the part you are seeking.

I would contact CMI directly (phone them) and ask if they can supply the fitting you need. If it is after a curve, you will need to cut the rail, insert the fitting then join the rail with either a pig or a coupler.

Ryan, if you have one broken fitting you probably should replace all four of them. All you do is loosen them up and slide them out of the way, cut the rail in the middle of where the fitting was, insert 3/4" od hotdog and put it all back together. Use 7/8" stainless tee fittings w/ set screws & polish the rails while you have it apart.
