Question for those that have this feature. I'm looking to build the compartment that goes behind the back seat. I've seen two versions. One where the hinges are attached to the back seat:

And the other where the hinges are attached to back of end of the lid:

I think structurally, the first option is a bit stronger. Just a guess though. What do you guys think?

If you do install the hinges on the rear of the seatback, it will be difficult to open the cover when sitting.

Assuming there is a strap or chain that limits how far it opens, I suggest the the second option.

I agree with Phil. I'm in the process of up-grading the interior of my 13' Sport and will be going with the second option. IMO the access to the seat compartment will be greatly enhanced with the hinges installed on the trailing edge.

Thanks all. That is great insight which I wouldn’t have known until it was too late. Is there a specific hinge that and size that works for this configuration?
