HELP

Rub rail on side of boat was falling off. I needed to removed the black rubber insert from the Receiver Track to refasten channel to side of boat.

After re-installation of Receiver Track, I have not been able to get black rubber insert to fully snap into channel.

I am able to get the bottom or the top back in but not both sides.

I have tried using liquid soap and flat head screwdriver to push the top back in. No luck.

Over the 30 years have the pieces shrunk or expanded that re-use of the original Receiver Track and black rubber insert is not possible.

Do I just have to suck it up and replace both the Track and the Rubber insert???

Any assistance would be appreciated.

They can be a real pain o get back in. I use a gasket scraper(wider than screw driver) and a rubber mallet.

Having the insert be warm (hair dryer, not heat gun) and plyable helps as does a second set of hands.

Phil

Why do you suggest not using a heat gun?

You can melt the insert and also can burn yourself.
